Weekly Status Report #14, Friday May 18, 2007

Work Completed/Skills learned
This week I only attended three days of class. On Monday it was a PD day and on Friday I was away because I had to go to my cottage. On Tuesday TIK gave us sorting assignment and first 10 people to finish it got bonus marks. On Wednesday we started learning a new theory called ergonomics. Even though ergonomics is not a part of programming it is a big part of computers working environment. It helps people get the best of their work and don't get injured. Ergonomics first started at WW2 in order to improve and make flying more comfortable. The things that we learned concerning ergonomics were how to sit properly at a desk and typing on the keyboard and using your mouse. We also learned that an average North American child spends about 1-3 hours a day in front of the computer which increases their chance of getting back, hand/wrist injuries or Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

Objectives/Future Goals/Work remaining
I am looking forward to learning more about ergonomics. Since I use computer about 2-3 hours a day, I want to know more about how to use computer ergonomically correct. I really don’t want to have back pains and that’s why I use ergonomic chair. I also need to finish Lottery program.

Challenges Faced and how they were resolved.
This week I ran into many problems. On Tuesday I did not know how to do the sorting program so I had to ask TIK for help. On Wednesday and Thursday I was having trouble doing the lottery program. I used the while loop instead of for loop so, I had to change it after. Since, I missed Friday it will be hard for me to finish the Lottery program but, I will try finishing it by Wednesday.
